I have a hidden section on the ‘help - about this database’ documents, which now I can’t seem to hide using ‘hide paragraph when formula is true’, no matter what I put as the coding - even ‘1’ won’t hide it.
The only way I can get the hide to work is to tick the boxes above (when document is previewed etc).
This isn’t what I want to do - it’s supposed to be visible to Designers and above.
I’ve checked this in 6.5.4 and it’s the same there.
However, on testing various structures, I came across one thing that gives you at least some sort of ‘show it’ / ‘don’t show’ ability and that’s an embedded view.
You should be able to do this with a simple view that displays something (docs) for ordinary users and more docs for the designers, etc.
It’s not a simple hide-when, but it would give you something to work with. If the user/group/role has access to doc’s in the view, they will see them, no access and they can’t see them.
Opening doc’s in that view will work, or you could block that, so only the view content is displayed (view Queryopendocument event: Continue = False). Also, view actions work properly inc. those controlled by a hide-when.
Lots of possibilities ?
In ‘About’ I’m using it to display a chronological view of design change doc’s, that I write when updating a design. While in ‘Using’ I display the help doc’s that I’ve written into each Db.
