We’re running Blackberry Enterprise Server 4.0.3.3 on Domino 7.0.1. Everything works fine for a while after a server restart, but eventually something happens and all outgoing messages (from a blackberry handheld to a mail recipient) are getting stuck as held messages in the mail.box.
We’ve been running with these BES and Domino versions for 6 months and this has happened 3 times, all within the last month. There hasn’t been a change in our server or network configuration.
The only way for me to get the messages to route is to completely restart the machine and “Resend selected held messages” in the mail.box. I’ve tried restarting the router, but that doesn’t help.
Does anyone have any advice or thoughts regarding why these messages are getting stuck?
From the Domino server, go to c:\program file\Blackberry E server, look for a Exec call SRPTEST, run this program and see if it reach SRP.Blackberry.Net correctly.
If it does then your problem is in your server configuration. Go to the Bes admin tool, configuration and double check that, your licence is current and your srp id is also current. If all that is fine, and you still can’t route email call me at 407-489-1378…may be I can help you out more.
It turns out this wasn’t related to the Blackberry server at all. We’re running Trend Micro ScanMail and the real time scan task (SMDReal) was crashing. Our Scanmail configuration didn’t allow mail to be routed if the SMDReal task wasn’t running.
I experienced the identical problem but the solution transpired to be very different. If you find yourself in this position and have recently (like myself) switched anti virus software then it would be advisable to look carefully through your notes.ini file. In my case I switched from Sophos to Kaspersky. Even after successfully un-installing Sophos I found entries in the notes.ini file - relating to Sophos. After commenting out (with an apostrophe!) those lines and restarting the Domino and Blackberry servers the issue of held mail in the mail.box file disappeared and all mail began to route correctly. I searched extensively for help on this but found none. Hopefully this will help you :o)
