This has happened twice with the public beta, did not happen at all with the Mac-only beta.
When dragging an attachment from the body of a mail message to the Mac desktop, the “about to add this icon tot he desktop with a green plus sign” ghost icon never appeared, and no matter where I let go of the mouse Notes enters a hang state with the Mac-equivalent of an hourglass.
Force Quit fails to work, and a power-off restart is required.
Not reproducible, but twice in two weeks. At least the second time, I know it was one of two attachments in the message.
Subject: Reproducible to me…
…this is the first app I ever had where I have to re-boot the system!
Subject: This is a known issue. Workaround …
This is a known issue for public beta 1 on 10.5.3 addressed by SPR LMAN77MJKG.
Drag-and-drop may hang Notes with text edit box open. You need close the search toolbar and Sametime sidebar before performing the drag-and-drop operation.
Please let me know if the workaround above is not work for you. Thank you!
Subject: Workaround not working
I still get the beach-ball of doom/hanging dragging files to the desktop with the Search bar turned off as outlined in the earlier suggestion.
As with others this is a major hang - Notes cannot be Force-Quitted (even with the Terminal) and a forced restart is required.
Subject: Confirming that the workaround does not work. My client hung with all panels closed just this morning.
