'hacking' a local ACL

One of our user’s archive db has become locked after he was recertified. He can’t access it with his old or new id file, nor can we as Admins. As its got a few years worth of data we really need it recovering - is there way of doing this?

do you know who is in the ACL?Maybe copy it to a server and open with the server ID?

Or… add a group that might be in the ACL to the local address book and put yourself in it?

or… create a notes id with the users old name if that’s still in the acl.

i do not think re create a user will not work because of the keys used of the peron.

You could try to open a database with NLNOTES.exe or try to find a tool in the sandbox.

keys are not relevant in ACL’s. As long as the newly created user has exaclty the same heirachical name as the entry in the ACL it should work.

not sure who’s in the ACL. Have tried new and old id files.

Put it on a R6 server and then try to use the full admin feature.

That’s easy to do with a Hex editor, if the file was not encrypted. (If it was encrypted you are out of luck).
