Groups, Multiple Users, Local Replica and Database Access

I’ve searched the Forum and Admin Help without finding any real clue.

Our scenario:

  • One computer used by multiple users, with separate id files.

  • Local replica of Database.

  • Users put in Groups.

  • Only Groups in Database ACL.

  • Domino Directory replicated to computer.

Result:

Users cannot access the database - “Not authorized …”, only when put as individuals in the ACL.

Multiple users cannot share the same local replica when access is provided via groups.

When a user has access to a server database through a group, and they take a local replica, Notes needs to be able to preserve their access while off-line, when the group won’t be available for validation.

It does this by creating a hidden entry in the ACL for the user that’s creating the replica, with the same rights as the group(s) that they are in at the time of replication.

Other users trying to access this local replica won’t have any ACL entries, and so will not be able to access that copy.

Hi,check in the acl the consistancy acl.

If you wat to open the DB on a local Repl. you have to set the user in the acl, as you mentioned, or uncheck the setting.

good luck

Hi,

Well, we wanted to avoid adding the users directly in the ACL, and instead using Groups, which are much more convenient from the administration point of view.

I wonder if dechecking “Enforce a consistent …” will allow multiple users on a single computer access the database according to the rights given by the Group membership as set in the ACL.

Turning off the flag to enforce consistence access will grant the local users manager access to your database.
