Groupmail versus usermail

A customer of mine want to have teamboxes (groupmail boxes) to communicate with the outside world. Customers communicates with departments instead of persons (his philosophy). All users have personal mailboxes for internal one-2-one communication.

In the outbound SMTP rule I can not put users because if they send a email through teambox the SMTP outbound rule block (session user).

Is there a solution to prevent users to send email from there personal mailbox but allow them to send email from a teambox ?

You may be able to do it by changing the design of the group mailboxes to have the groupname be the sender instead of the user. I think there is a d/b in the sandbox with the code to do it.

Thanks Alan for responding !

The $Principal field is no problem, we did that.

Do you mean we can make a SMTP rule based on the sender ?

In a configuration document, under Router/SMTP… Restrictions and Controls… SMTP Outbound ControlsThere is a field “Allow messages only ffrom the following Internet addresses to be sent to the internet”. List only valid sender addresses in here, and the users will not be able to send out except from the group mailboxes. Make sure the configuration doc applies to all servers in the domain.
