Group Internet address - Urgent

Hi, I was facing a small issue with the “Internet Address” field of the groups in the Notes Address Book. I’ve created some groups for Managers in the company, say “ITM.” for IT manager with the member as the notes id of the IT manager. Now, if anyone send a mail over to the Internet with a “cc” to the “ITM.”, the recipient cannot reply to all, as the “cc” field of the mail contains “ITM.@mycompany.com”.

So what I did is, I copied the "internet address" of the IT managers document from the "People" view and pasted it in the "Internet address" of the "ITM." group. Now, when the recipient gets a mail as stated above, the "cc" field contains the IT manager's exact internet address. But when the recipient replies to all, he's getting a bounced message with the contents as "Error transferring to xxx.xxx.xxx.xx; Maximum hop count exceeded. Message probably in a routing loop." And after sometime, even normal mails from Internet are not delivered to the IT manager. The same bounce message comes.

I got some tips from the forum but none of them worked. Show me a way out of this issue. Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Satish.

why is your group name “ITM.”? What is the purpose of the dot ( . )? Try removing this and see if it fixes your issue. The dot is a separator and may be expecting something afeter it and before the @. Further, why can’t the recipient reply to the internet address of your group? Was there an error generated? That should work fine (less maybe the dot).

“ITM.” is a group on the production server. The problem started with this. But I tested on a group called “TestGroup” too. Note that this group name is without the “.”.When I send a mail over the Internet, the email id’s are apppearing fine without any problem. But the replies are not coming. Instead they are bouncing back to the sender(recipient of the original mail)
