I am trying to get Google Desktop Enterprise 5.9.1005.12335-en-pb working with Notes 8.5.2 on Win7 Pro 64-bit. Notes was installed to c:\program files (x86) as a standard user. I was unable to configure the Notes plug-in - ‘Action → Google Desktop for Notes’ resulted in:
“Installation of the IBM Lotus Notes Plug-In for Google Desktop was not able to be completed. Please verify that you have the most recent version of Google Desktop and try again.”
I tried disabling UAC as per http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21444795 but this did not appear to solve the problem. I was able to configure the plug-in by launching Notes with admin privilege. Indexing appeared to be progressing well. However, if I launched Notes as a standard user, I was prompted to configure the plug-in again and indexing appeared to stop.
I was able to complete indexing by leaving Notes running with admin privileges.
Has anyone else seen this problem and found a solution? I prefer to run all applications as a standard user.
thanks, Norbert
Subject: I can’t get it to work either
Have there been any developments on this. Just acquired new workstation with W7 on it and it’s way worse than my previous set up.
Tried just about everything to get GDS to work but it seems only to index new files or something. I installed from ISSI but not sure if that install was done as Admin (couldn’t seem to find way to download the install file myself.
Think I might ask DSIS to install me an XP build!
Subject: Same problem for me
Any solution or workaround for this?I’m using Notes 8.5.2 on Win7x64 and have exactly the same errors as described here.
Subject: Screenshots
I have uploaded screenshots of the errors I get when I run Actions → Google Desktop for Notes running as a standard user to http://sinet.ca/files/GDSNotes1.JPG and http://sinet.ca/files/GDSNotes2.JPG (Google Desktop for Notes had been configured with Notes launched as an admin user).
Subject: SPRs Accepted
SPR# MWID8ALQQF was opened October 20th relating to Google Desktop not showing any hits in Notes documents even after indexing had apparently completed successfully.
SPR #CSEO8DVNBM was opened February 8th relating to Google Desktop for Notes requiring that Notes be launched with Admin privileges, not only for the initial configuration but to complete indexing.
In both cases, the problems were reported against Notes 8.5.2 (Standard) running on Win7 Pro 64-bit.
Subject: Same problem as detailed in SPR# MWID8ALQQF
I am facing exactly the same problem as detailed in SPR# MWID8ALQQF. My desktop searches are not hitting any Notes documents even after the indexing finishes successfully. I am on Win 7 64 bit. How do i check status of this SPR# MWID8ALQQF ?

Subject: Single User or Multiuser
Jeff, I am not sure. I do no recall seeing that option during the Notes client install. I installed the code to the default location c:\program files (x86)\IBM\Lotus Notes. However, I changed the data directory to e:\Notes\Data to keep the data on a separate partition.
I installed the CZIF3EN Notes 8.5.2 code, if that makes a difference.
