Giving user Server Access - time delay?

Hi,

Today I gave a user access to a Server, at another location, by adding him to a User Access group in the Address Book. The changes have been indexed, but when I try to access the server as the new user its saying he is not authorised?

Is there some time delay between adding a name to an access group and the system reaslisng the user is now allowed to access the server?

Any advice would be most welcome.

I think the server doc is only read when the server starts – so you need to restart the Domino server.

Better to use groups rather than user names, as you can quickly add someone to a group without the need for a restart

Sorry I should have made clear, I did add the user to a group, the group is then listed in the main access group (so he is in a nested group effectively)

And still no access. Its very annoying.

I wish there was something to check user access to servers, in the same way you can check a name against a database for access level.

You could try…

show nlcache reset

…at the console. This should force the server to check the access the user has.

If you have ensured that the change you made exists on the server in question and are sure that the names.nsf has reindexed, then turn to the client. If the user was logged in during this process, they need to either restart the Notes client or press F5 so their credentials can be reevaluated.
