Getting a handle on "No sitemap found"

Ok, this just popped up today and as such I can’t see any of the data in databases based on mail8.ntf.

It began with my local replica, and for yucks I created a new database based on mail8 and it still shows this error and no views.

Other databases appear to work fine.

The only change in the client I can recall was adding a new location doc for another project…which I am not currently using.

Doing a few searches here in this forum the only suggestion was to replace the design, been there done that. This is the 8.01 version of the template in an 8.0.1 client.

Thoughts & ideas?

Subject: Receiving same error; no resolution yet

I am seeing the same “no sitemap found” error but with these conditions:

  1. Occurs on one particular computer.

  2. Occurs sporadically; one minute it is fine, then next it is not – in the same day (i.e., design tasks haven’t run between good and bad viewings).

  3. Same calendar opened from another client is fine.

All computers used to test are running 8.0.1 client.

Offending computer has had client re-installed and experiences no problem with any other calendar.

ACL/Permissions are all as they should be.

I’m at a loss; this is quite odd.

Subject: Potential Solution

I had this with my Notebook/Journal and your right in that it seems to occur out of the blue, but I believe the culprit is bookmark.nsf. I believe in the past I created a new copy, or perhaps it did subside after a computer reboot, but it was happening more often, and I rebuilt my bookmark.nsf to resolve.

Brian, thanks very much for your pointer to the bookmark.nsf. I got this same problem opening my mail file (using Notes Standard) and spent an hour earlier trying to see what the problem was.

After seeing your post I shut down my Notes client, renamed my bookmark.nsf to something else, and restarted Notes. This gave me a choice of home page, etc., and then started up fine. When I now access my mail I see everything as normal. Also, it didn’t change my workspace icons, etc.

There is actually a very simple quick solution, just restart your PC, it worked for me 10 out of 10.
