Get into source code of a signed design

Hi guys,

I have a database that was developed by one college. This guy signed the design then left the company and went to Japan. Now I have no contact with him. Is there any way I can get to the design of this database??? I tried to use admin right to do it but it didn’t work.

If your Design is hidden and you don’t have the template ( which was used to hide the design ), then you are in trouble.

From what i know, there is no way to get the code ( lotus script & formula ) back since its encrypted when the design is hidden.

However, you could get all the design elements by creating an “Archive” of the database on your local machine.

all the best !!

The source code isn’t encrypted, it’s simply not there at all; only the compiled code is included.

Searching the forums will turn up how to use a hex editor to manually reset the “hide design” property, but you’ll never get what you’re asking for, because it’s not there to be seen.

Thanks guys, However, I heard from a friend that If I can get the Notes ID of the developer, i’ll be able restore the code (Fomula&Lotus Script ) rite??? I’m not so sure about this. Is it true??

Your friend is mistaken. You MUST have the original template that the design was based on. It will be an NSF/NTF somewhere. It might even be on your server.

CATALOG might help you track it down.

If it is signed by someone else, just resign it with the server ID.

If it is design locked, just create an archive and make it into a template. It gets most things back but not docs such as About page

signing a database is something other than hiding design, which i assume might be your problem.

you can hide the design of a database when doing a design replace and checking “Hide formulas and LotusScript” - once done so you can’t make this step undone.

all you can do is look for the original template…
