FYI: Did you know there was a separate Business Partner forum as well?

For those of you who are IBM Business Partners, or developers who might not realize how easy it is to join the IBM Business Partner program (it doesn’t cost anything to join), I wanted to be sure you knew that there is an IBM Business Partner forum which is a good place to share technical experience, ask questions of the many IBM folks who frequent that community, and get a bit closer feel for the doings in the IBM Lotus world.

A couple of points to clarify:

I don’t work for IBM, but I have been part of the BP Forum community for over ten years, and it has been a very good experience for me.

I do not mean anything against this forum, which has a more general purpose, but a lot more noise. I like this community as well, or else I would not participate here.

The BP Forum is a Notes only environment, which you might like or hate. It does lead to a different kind of interaction, and it is good to see IBM sticking to its own client in this way.

The Partner Forum 2007 Database Now available

The Partner Forum is a peer to peer discussion database used by IBM Business Partners focused on Lotus technologies. This database helps to enable the Business Partner community to exchange Lotus technical information with each other to better deliver solutions to our mutual customers. Lotus employees and Business Partners are encouraged to contribute questions and responses based on their areas of expertise. The database is available for replication from the Lotus Notes Network (LNN).

The database is available for replication from the Lotus Notes Network (LNN) (Hybrid cloud software for a smarter business | IBM). Business Partners can register on the Lotus Notes Network (LNN).

It really is an excellent resource. If you’re a business partner, I’d strongly look into getting access to it.

Thanks Ben for posting this!

Thanks for the valuable information Ben, but it is disappointing to see that this is LNN only and not a Web Forum. Trying to get a server cross certified in the corporate world could prove near impossible.

I have found the LNN support people very prompt & efficient in assisting with getting your server cross-certified with the Lotus servers.

And yes you can replicate the business partner forums to your local servers.

It’s not the LNN end that I am worried about.

It is a fair concern. I personally use a server id and simply replicate manually, but I fully understand that in a corporate environment, that may not be a suitable answer. I think the thinking is that business partners don’t tend to be in large corporate environments, but there are pretty small companies that still lock down their servers pretty tightly. Would it be of more interest if you could cross certify with a user id?

Sorry for the late reply but , yes Ben, if I could certify under my user ID then I might participate.

I think that you can cross cert your client ID with them and replicate to your local machine. (Not sure on that one but think I saw something on that somewhere).
