thanks a lot…your response are highly appreciated.

Why don’t you try web-enabling the application on the Domino platform?

Subject: RE: Future For MY Lotus Applications

Usually you persuade people by explaining the following example:

j2ee app based around a struts framework = 100days

same app built in domino = 20days

(this is a VERY rough estimate and is obviously dependant on the applications dependancies, functions and features.)

It is a plain fact that even using tools like xde with an extreme programming methodology writing web based java apps simply takes longer.

I would also add…is “everything under roof” better than “a set of market stands”…because lets face it an open source environment with 3rd party classes and apps and mail classes and and and is just a whole bunch of things thrown together that all require independant management. The joy of domino is its all under one roof.

This leads on to a myriad of discussions about bloatware and suchlike in which many purists will maintain that open = good because of the power you have to do what you want to do. However, it is also something that needs high levels of control enforced upon it because by its very nature it is a more complex beast.

Apologies for the randomness of this, very bored.
