Full text index simply not created

I have a strange problem here on a Domino Server, 7.0.3FP1 on a SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 9.

I am not sure if the problem happens since the Upgrade to 7.0.3FP1 but it may well be (has been 7.0.1 before).

The problem is that I cannot create any full text index for any new database created. Domino does not issue any error message but no FT subdirectory ever appears.

But this only happens for databases created since a certain point in time. For older databases that already exist for a long time but did not have a full text index yet, creating one works fine.

I think I am a seasoned Domino admin (12 years or so) and have already checked all sorts of things but cannot solve that problem.

It seems to be a “property” of all new databases, not a problem caused by OS issues and so on.

Does anyone have an idea?

Subject: full text index simply not created

(running 6.5.4)I’ve had a number of cases where right clicking the db icon in the client, bringing up properties, and asking for an index or an index update failed to do what was requested. No errors, just no index or update of an existing one. If the db has an index, the automatic indexer fails to update the db index. I can’t delete the index either.

If I go into the admin client and delete the index and re-create it, everything works fine and the db is now properly indexed.

No clue why.
