A user’s existing index is dated 9/06. I tried to delete the index and recreate it, but am instead getting this error:
the existing full text index was built by a later version of this product
The ODS is 43 for both his local and server versions. We migrated from v5 to v6 after September '06.
I looked for but could not locate this error in this forum.

I don’t know, but it sounds like you need to delete the index, then check for and manually delete a dbname.ft folder from disk, then recreate the index. There’s probably some file in there it doesn’t recognize, and so when you delete the index it doesn’t know to delete it.
