FTI on mtstore - "Directory not empty" error message

We’ve been getting a series of error messages pertaining to the mtstore database.

We’ve attempted to delete and recreate the full text index associated with mtstore, and it appears to work successfully.

We even went so far as to down Domino and delete the FTI folders manually, just to make sure … and then recreate.

However, we continue to see error messages similar to the following:

Full Text message: d:\notes\data\mtdata\mtstore.ft\ftgi%ulldel\Main.DEL Delete error. errcode = 1808 erro = 41 (Directory not empty)

  • or -

Full Text message: d:\notes\data\mtdata\mtstore.ft\ftgi.R00 Delete error. errcode = 2305 erro = 41 (Directory not empty)

Did notice that the MTC files seem to stay in place, even though we’ve deleted the FTI. Might that have anything to do with it?

Any thoughts?

Subject: Resolved - FTI on mtstore - “Directory not empty” error message

The “directory not empty” message kept bothering us, and we sat down with the network engineers.

The Domino data directory was located on a separate physical machine - a “NetApp” appliance - and we found that there were some issues even adding and deleting directories with Windows Explorer.

Turns out there was a NetApp update for Windows 2003 - the latest service pack for the latest service pack, so to speak.

The engineers installed the update last night and it appears that we can create and delete full text indexes now at will - with no error messages.

I love a happy ending.
