One of my users has “manager access” to her bosses’ diary but when trying to create a calendar entry gets this msge “An error occurred while searching for free time … we are not able to perform conflict checking for u at this time … the meeting will be created and placed on yr calendar … continue ?”

You need to delete the calendarprofile for that client. I found this post here which explains the process, just ran that (for an R6 mail template/client on an R7 server, and it worked.)
