Forwarding Address

Hello,

In the user (user@domain.com) person document, there is a “Forwarding Address” field. I have put the group (group@domain.com) in the “Forwarding Address” field.

When I send emails to user@domain.com, all the emails are forwarded to the emails included in the group “group@domain.com”.

The problem is the emails sent to (user@domain.com) are not kept in the Inbox. (They are only being forwarded)

Can I keep the emails which are sent to user@domain.com, in the user mail box, while forwarding copies of them to the group?

Thanks

Subject: Forwarding Address

In Lotus speak, It is working as designed!! The mails are being forwarded somewhere else, hence not to the mail file of the person doc

There are a couple of ways you could do this…

  1. Create a mailin document with the filename the same as the person who’s person doc it is and then add the name of the mail in doc to the group you have in the fowarding address

  2. Don’t use the forwarding address, have the mail delivered to the mail file, and then have an agent which forward the message to the group. (There are issues with this about names in the fields and from possibly changing to the signer of the agent

I hope this helps

I would go with Praveen’s answer and that is to create a mail rule to do this. There is also third party software that can do this.

The router looks at the person doc and sees there is a forwarding address and so forwards it on, as said works as designed.

John,

i have written a long timle ago some code which will do exactley what you need.

Just give it a go. :-))

Option Explicit

'parameters =======================

Public Const pongaddress="user@user.com"

Public Const pongmaxsize=0

Public Const pongpresubject=“AUTOMATICALLY FORWARDED :”

Public Const pongresender="thismailbox@domain.com"

'===================================

Sub Initialize

Dim s As New NotesSession

Dim db As NotesDatabase

Dim doc As NotesDocument

Set db = s.CurrentDatabase

Set doc= s.DocumentContext

Call process(doc, db)

End Sub

Sub process(doc As NotesDocument, db As NotesDatabase)

%REM

This routine sent the copy message, and the forward message.

%END REM

Dim copyit As Variant

Dim rsender As String

Dim rsubject As String

Dim x As String

Dim pforward As String

Dim ndoc As NotesDocument

Dim pmsg As NotesRichTextItem

' verify the size of the inbound doc

If pongmaxsize>0 And doc.size > pongmaxsize Then

	copyit=False

Else

	copyit=True

End If

If copyit = TRue Then

	Rsender=doc.from(0)

	If rsender="" Then

		Rsender = doc.inetfrom(0)

	End If

	'if mail is coming via smtp the inetfrom is empty

	If rsender="" Then

		rsender=doc.smtporiginator(0)

	End If

	Rsubject= pongpresubject+" from :"+rsender++" ("+doc.subject(0)+")"

	Set ndoc = db.createdocument()

	ndoc.form= "Memo"

	ndoc.principal = pongresender

	ndoc.smtporiginator = pongresender

	ndoc.Sendto = pongaddress

	ndoc.Subject = Rsubject

	Set pmsg = doc.getfirstitem("body")

	Call ndoc.copyitem(pmsg,"body")

	ndoc.Send(False)

End If

End Sub

You need to make rules on the notes client for user@domain.com.

Make rule so as to when a mail coming to user@domain.com , a copy of it should be sent to group@domain.com
