I’m having some trouble forwarding meeting requests that I have received from another time zone to people in my own timezone.
Example:
I get a meeting request for 9am-10am Mountain Time (MDT). I am in Central Time so the Notes Client tells me that is 10am to 11am CST (which is correct).
If I forward that meeting request to someone else in CST, the subject automatically changes to 11am to 12pm CST and the body thinks the original time was 10am to 11am MDT (when it is actually 9am to 10am MDT).
I am able to reproduce this in the Full and Light Client. I have confirmed that the timezone settings are correct on all sides.
If I use Microsoft Outlook (with IMAP to the Domino Server) and try to forward a meeting request it does NOT change the date incorrectly.
The meeting request is coming from an external source, it doesn’t matter if it is Domino/Exchange/Hotmail/Etc
The Client that I am using to forward the message is the Official Lotus Notes 8.5 client connected to our Domino 8.5 Server. I have tried it in the Full (Eclipse) and Basic configurations with the same difficulty.
The message itself is just being forwarded from the inbox, there is no delegation involved.
Basically my boss will recieve a meeting request to himself (and will accept to his calendar as normal). After he will forward the invitation message to others so that they know when the meeting is taking place as well. It is this forwarded message that Notes is messing up the timezone on.
The “preview” of the forwarded message (right after you click Forward with Attachments) has an incorrect subject line (says the meeting is an hour later) and the body of the message shows the correct time in CST but labels it as MDT.
It does not matter whether we forward the message internally or externally as the error occurs prior to it being sent. The users we are forwarding to are all in CST.
Any mention of Outlook was simply used to compare the behavior between the Lotus and Microsoft clients. When I opened up the bosses mailbox in Outlook I used IMAP. Outlooks default behavior is the desired (and expected one), it converts the meeting time from MDT to CST and the message it forwards has the correct times in CST.
I have also tested using iNotes. iNotes will make no mention of CST at all (it just says the time in MDT). Accepting the meeting into the calender inserts it at the correct time in CST. Forwarding a message simply passes on the meeting time in the original MDT timezone.
I was wondering if when forwarding the meeting, the user is using the “forward” from the right click menu. I have noticed a different effect when using this “forward” than the one located on the top menu bar.
I have been investigating this and have not found any information referring to this problem. Just wondering if there could be a link.
