Forward from Read-Only MailArchive: Attachments change to Picture

Hello friends,

We’re facing the following problem:

Users have a copy of the Mail-Archive on DVD.

When trying to forward a mail without Attachment from that archive, everything is OK.

When trying to forward a mail with Attachment from that archive, then the attachment turns into a picture

When selecting ‘Reply with History’ then the attachment turns into a picture

When selecting ‘Reply Internet-Style with History’ then the body contains [attachment “filename.xls” deleted by dvogel]

When using ‘Copy into New…’->New Memo instead of ‘Forward’,

then the Attachment is OK if the selected mail was originally sent by Notes;

but if the mail was from the Internet then the complete body of the new memo is blank.

( ‘Copy into New…’->New Memo works fine if the message has no attachment )

=> I tried this also with a mail-Archive on the Harddisk.

 As long as it is not 'Read-Only'  everything works normal;

 but when setting the 'Read-Only' flag then the above problem arises.

Removing the Read-Only flag, and everything is OK again.

( Unfortunately on CD/DVD it is always 'Read-Only' )

Copy & Paste the message from DVD into the current

maildb and forward from there always works,

unless the mailfile is already beyond it’s quota.

But that’s not what the users want/need. Just forward from the Archive.

I tried other suggestions in this Forum:

delete ~editclp.ncf and cache.ndk

and exit Notes, wait 20sec and start again.

No luck.

Removed the Icon from teh workspace, compacted the workspace, restart Note: No luck.

Used a new desktop.ndk: No luck.

In Notes5 we did not have any such difficulties;

only since migration to 7

=> Environment:

 OS:        Win2000   and  WinXP   English

 Notes:    7.0.1   and 7.0.2           English

 Server:  7.0.2                            English

 Mailfile-Template:  StdR7Mail  English, not modified

Any Clue how to forward with attachments from the DVD-Archive ?

Thanks for any tip.
