Formula Agent: Create new documents instead of Modify Documents

When creating/modifying a Formula agent, there is an option in the lower-right that defaults to “Modify documents”. The other two options are “Select docuemnts” and “Create new documents”. I have used “Select documents” before with no problem.

However, the option to “Create new documents” seems to be problematic. It is probably just that I do not fully understand the limitations on this option, but I cannot find any documentation that specifically relates to it, and very little here on the forums.

Have I overlooked something, or has anyone here deduced any of the rules and restrictions for using this? It is a handy way to create new docs that are similar to some existing ones. But it doesn’t always work. I can certainly give more details, but if someone just knows where the feature is explained further, that may answer my questions.

Thanks!

Subject: Formula Agent: Create new documents instead of Modify Documents

Hi Jim,

I’ve used this feature on and off for many years. The only documentation I have ever seen has been quite limited, and I can’t find any mention in either the R6, R5 help or R6 redbook. So I guess it must have been back in R4, and I don’t have that any more!

From what I remember, it copies all fields from selected docs into new docs. I don’t recall any problems - what are your problems?

Tony

Thanks for responding, Tony - I ended up just doing what I needed with LotusScript, so I don’t remember the specifics now. This feature has never seemed entirely foolproof, so I suppose I will use it even less going forward.
