In Domino Designer 6, a form is not being previewed by Internet Explorer and it’s not apparent why. Here are the details:
When the IE Preview button is clicked, the browser opens with the URL string ‘http://localhost/check.nsf/TestForm?OpenForm’ and displays ‘The page cannot be found. HTTP 404 File not found’. The same message appears when substituting 127.0.0.1 for ‘localhost’ in the URL although 127.0.0.1 can be pinged.
Both Notes R6 and R7 are installed on the client. Notes R6 uses C:\notes\data and R7 uses C:\notes7\data. (The check.nsf database in the URL is in the Notes R6 directory.) The ‘nhttp’ command returns the following when run from the Notes R6 and R7 directories:
C:\notes>nhttp
10/25/2006 01:19:59 PM HTTP Server: Already running
C:\notes7>nhttp
The ID file being used is: C:\notes7\data\notes.id
Enter password (press the Esc key to abort):
All requirements for previewing design work on the web according to the Designer 6 Help have been met. These are as follows:
-
The ACL has an Anonymous entry with Author access with create document permission.
-
The form to be previewed resides in a database under the Notes data directory on the local machine running the HTTP task.
-
The form to be previewed is not be marked as hidden from Web browsers.
-
‘localhost’ was added under ‘No proxy for these domains’ in the proxy settings of the Location Preferences.
I’ve read on this forum that the previewing of design work on the web might be impacted by other software that’s running on Port 80 (the default for HTTP). Is there some means by which such software can be identified?
I’d appreciate any other ideas on why a form is not being previewed by Internet Explorer as described here. Thanks.
