Forgot to Install DECS

Hi,

I’ve installed a Domino 6.0.1 server on windows 2000, and would like to connect it with an oracle Server.

I so decided to execute DECS, but it says that there is no DECS.exe found :frowning:

I guess I forgot to install it at first, so who can I do?

Do I have to shut down Domino, launch install.exe and select the component I missed? will it not mess up my install?

I could use the incremental install of Domino 6.0.1CF1, but I read that upgrade made Domino Server crash every 3/4 days, and I would like to avoid that.

May I “just” install the missing part as the DECS.exe and add it as a starting task to notes.ini ?

You’ll need to do a new install, and choose decs this time. It may be possible to run the Software thing (control panel/add remove programs), so try that first, anyway, it doesn’t take very long to do.

I tried to modify the install of Domino, asked if i wanted to remove it completely… not a good idea!

I guess I’ll have to go through install again… it will mess nothing up will it?

Hi,

you just need to reinstall LN again over the existing installation. (No need to uninstall anything but you have to shut down the LN server first :-)).

The only difference now will be, that you select DECS this time.

Your configrations will stay and nothing will be “messed up”.

The only think you should be aware of is that your templates (ntf) will be replaced and the design of you names.nsf will be updated.

If you did any modifications to theses dbs then make a backup.

You can also install DECS in the following manner:

  1. First search and see if you have the DECS template - decsadm.ntf. If so, proceed. If not, reinstall is your best bet.

  2. Shutdown Domino

  3. Edit the Notes.ini. Add the following:

EXTMGR_ADDINS=decsext

Add DECS to the Server Tasks Line

  1. Restart Domino. You should see the DECS task load and the admin created.
