How do you force internet addresses that are sent to a Domino SMTP server (via NRPC routing) to goto a particular server? For some reason, ours are being routed to the other cluster member 1st then onto the Domino SMTP server in an adjacnet domain. Do we need to adjust routing costs? I could understand how to do it if SMTP was used… just add the mail relay in server configuration. Our admins want to restrict this until it reaches the external domain.

Without seeing how all of your servers are setup I cannot tell you why it’s happening like that for sure but I would guess that the “other” server is the only server in the cluster with a connection to the adjacent domain and that’s why mail routes through the other server and not directly to the SMTP server. It could also be that it’s routing the mail to the server that is first alphabetically. Again, without seeing all of your server configs, domains docs and connections I cannot tell you why it’s happening like that.

Thanks Paul… just in case, I’ll check the domain documents again.
Update: just checked… there is a connection document to the SMTPEX server. I can trace on the DOmino console, too. Plus, it lists the connection in the console debugging text. I keep seeing “Router: No new working server!” Any ideas what this means?
