I have a large mail database (2GB) based on the dwa7 template. One of my folders, into which all incoming alert emails sent by my various snmp/network monitoring systems get moved into via mail rules, suddenly started showing completely empty when I click the “date” column header to sort the emails in reverse date order (newest at top). All the documents were still in the folder, and you could see them when in normal date order (oldest at top) but they’d all vanish when trying to view them in inverse chronological order. I tried compacting, fixup, replace database design, everything I could think of and nothing would fix the problem except creating a new folder, moving all the old emails into that, and then moving them all back to their original folder.
Any ideas what went wrong to cause that kind of problem? And is there a better way to fix if it happens again?
