Fix for 6.5.4 iNotes problem

Upon upgrading my 6.5.3 on iSeries to 6.5.4, we discovered that iNotes no longer worked. When opening a mail file, we would get the standard “Domino Web Access Warning. Sorry we were unable to process your request…” error. Adding the inotes_wa_debug=1 parameter, it would tell us "invalid character.’

It turns out that the problem was the Sametime integration. I noticed that the hostinfo.js and the hostaccess.xml files on the sametime server were full of foreign characters. So I copied good versions of those files from the iNotes server.

That made it work until I restarted Sametime, which I do every night for backups. The restart corrupts those two files again. To prevent them from getting recorrupted veery night, I set them to readonly and revoked QNOTES’s write and alter privileges.

Seems to be fine now. Hope this helps someone.

Thank you very much for posting your way around this, I just had this exact error after upgrading til 6.5.4fp1 with sametime 6.5.1fp1 on iSeries. Did you record the SPR # with Lotus? I wasn’t able to find it…

Regards,

Hans

We just upgraded and came across the same problem. We narrowed it down to the Sametime integration when we discovered that only the users that had it enabled in their iNotes preferences were having the problem.

Glad you were able to identify it along with a work around. Did you by chance call it in to Lotus Support? I need to call this in myself to see if we can get a hotfix and would like to reference your incident if you opened one.

Thank you.

There is a Lotus SPR for this but I don’t know the number. Lotus will release a hotfix but i don’t know when. Their suggestion is to just delete the hostinfo.js file before installing the upgrade.
