First Letter of Value

Hi,

Is it possible to find the first letter of the value the user has inputted into the field? I know i could use @left but the number could be any length. need to distinguish different documents

Part number1 : EC13222-001

Part number2 : AA00217-001/02

Any ideas of how to do this?

Subject: First Letter of Value

Just realised, I could use @Begins to determin the beginning letter, if it returns 1 it is a marketing doc, else its a sales doc.

Seriously though, glad you found something that works. @Left would have worked. It doesn’t care about the string length. If FieldName contains EC13222-001, then @Left(FieldName;1) would give you E since that is the first character in that field.
