Firefox kills Domino

Here’s a strange one:

  • Our Domino 7.0.2 server was running out of disk space on C: and crashed a few times.

  • I removed Macaffe Groupshield which freed up 120GB, then restarted the server.

  • The server kept crashing almost immediately

  • Ran nfixup.exe on all databases

  • Deleted log.nsf (saved a copy)

  • Restarted Windows 2003

  • Server still crashes almost immediately

  • Reinstalled the Domino server

  • Server still crashes :frowning:

I eventually worked out that the server was crashing as soon as I tried to log in via a browser. Sometimes our custom login page would not even finish loading.

Then I worked out that it was Firefox 3.x causing the crash. When you login with IE7 everything works OK …

Without completely rebuilding the server from scratch can anybody suggest what the problem might be?? Why woul FF be causing the crash and not IE ??? BTW the custom login form has been working reliably for several months on both IE and FF …

TIA,

Mark.

Did you update the Java files on your server in relation to the expiring certificate issue? If so, IBM just sent out a piece on pre-7.03 version 7 servers (7.0, 7.0.1, 7.0.2) could experience a crash due to the updated file websvc.jar. Their corrective action for that is to go back to the original websvc.jar file.

Perhaps Firefox renders something on your login page in Java that IE renders using an ActiveX control?
