Firefox 3 and DWA

Firefox 3.0 is not compatible with DWA 8.0.1, have opened PMR with Support and the DWA team say that compatibility will be introduced in 8.0.3 (estimated arrival time is January 2009). A hotfix will be developed AFTER 8.0.2 is released (has not been developed yet) which will work for 8.0.2 (release date possibly in August for 8.0.2, hotfix some time after that). Possibly at some point after that they will consider creating a hotfix for 8.0.1.

As things stand now, this means NO official plans to support Firefox 3.0 on the 8.0.1 codestream. Given the security enhancements introduced in FF3, recommending my users to NOT use it and stay with FF2 because of webmail problems is so far away from a good solution. We have a large Mac user base (plus a few penguins out there) and even our Windows users prefer FF over IE (young tech-savy user-base).

I have requested that a HF be developed and am pressuring my IBM reps for the same result. I would recommend that if you wish to use FF3 in the 8.0.1 codestream that you do the same.

Especially if DWA support do decide at some point to back-port to 8.0.1, as they could do the work now instead of later…

Thanks,

Chris

I agree whole-heartedly!

Firefox has fixed a security issue. Lotus should immediately support this!
