I’m hoping someone from IBM (Lotus) like Pat Mancuso… sees this. This might even be an old suggestion but just wanted to toss it out. If I select databases under the Files tab (Domino Admin 8.5 client) then right-mouse and select Compact, there is no compact options for DAOS (on/off). It seems like a nice improvement to have a radio button (or =) that would allow you to do the equivalent of load compact -c -daos on/off. Just a thought… not that I mind entering at the console. The console is fine for 1 database or all (entire root data or specific folder) but not when I need to do specific databases. Have a great day.
Subject: Re: DAOS and Files view in Admin
I’m not positive it’s in the 8.50 admin (though I’m pretty sure it is) but I know this works in the 8.51 admin:
You can enable DAOS and do a compact -c through the files display on the Admin, you just have to do it in two steps. Select the files you want to enable DAOS for, right click one of them, and select ‘Advanced Properties…’, then check the ‘Use DAOS’ box. After that, right click and select ‘Compact…’, and check the ‘use copy style compact’ option.
We’ll keep your suggestion in mind for future versions however.
For the record, “compact -daos on” and “compact -c” don’t have to be done at the same time. As soon as you enable DAOS, all subsequently added attachments will be considered for DAOS participation. You don’t ever have to do the copy-style-compact if you don’t want to. The copy-style-compact operation just revisits the attachments already stored in the NSF, and moves them to DAOS storage if they’re eligible.
