I have installed my Notes 6.5.3 Client in a network inviroment. C:\Lotus\Notes\Prog an H:\Lotus\Notes\Data where H: is my homedirectory on the server. I start Lotus Notes with the option =h:\Lotus\Notes\data\notes.ini. and everything works fine. When I want to send a file from my MS-Explorer an the Lotus Notes Client ist not started it dosen´t work. I have to copy my notes.ini into the Lotus Prog directory and it works. But that is not the real solution for me. Does anyone have the same problems and a solution for my problem ?
Thanks
Ernst

Go to your Windows Explorer. Check “Tools->Options” and “File Types”(<- german “Dateitypen”) tab and check the line containing no extension and the text URL:mailto protocol. You may change the settings using the advanced button (assuming you use Windows 2000/XP).
I haven’t tested it myself but it seems that this is the right place to make the change.
Probably changes will be reset if you select the mail program in the internet explorer settings.

Thanks for the tip, but it doesn´t work. I checked the entries, everything is fine. I don´t know why the notes.ini has to be in the Notes\Prog directory or in a directory which is in the “PATH”. If the Client is running everything works fine.
