I’m using Notes client 6.0.1 on two XP machines, both replicating with our mailserver.
I have setup an HTML signature to be automatically added to my memos on both workstations seperately.
Whenever I have been working on one station (and thus replicating to the server too) I get an error as soon as I start working on the other at the moment I want to create a new memo (or a reply to an E-mail): A popup window says “File not found”. Pressing “OK” lets me continue however without the HTML signature inserted. If I use “tools->preferences->signature” to re-select the intended HTML-signature again all works well for this session (and every new session I after that start on this system) but … if I now start working on the other workstation it all starts over again. I did not have this problem using a text-signature.
The notes clients aren’t installed at the same locations on the two workstations and I guess that this is the problem: Somehow the path (b.t.w. this is the default location where notes wants to look for a signature file: “notes data”) where the signature is physically located on the specific workstation gets replicated too and therefore overwriting the location on the other workstation as soon as that client replicates with the server.
My questions:
Is this the right assumption?
Is there anything I can do about it (without being forced to re-install notes on one machine exactly at the same location as it is on the other, this is not an option)?

Not sure that your assumption is correct. My HTML signature file is located outside of the Notes data directory, and has a specific pointer to it in the Mail > Signature > Preferences field. I don’t expect there to be any “memory” on the part of the server when moving from one machine to another, unless you’ve registered as roaming users.

The HTML signature (and any graphics) need(s) to be in the same place on both clients. BUT - this doesn’t have to be related to the location of your Notes client. It can be somewhere known (like c:\sig) or on a network share that both PCs can access at the same drive mapping.Just move the file(s) so they are in a consistent place and change your preferences to look for them there.

But this is exactly my problem: what if you don’t have the possibility to store that signature on the exact same location on all machines you’re using.
(Typically I also now and then access lotus notes via a winframe client, using a mapped drive where my configuration and signature is stored.)
If the location of the html-signature is machine dependant, why replicate this setting at all? My problem would be solved if it wasn’t!
