File Does Not Exist error message in DDE

Every now and then I’ll get a prompt in DDE of “File Does Not Exist” when trying to open a design element. It doesn’t matter if it’s a form, view, script library, subform - everything gives the error.

If I close out of all Notes clients and the go back in, I can get to the design elements, make changes save, etc. When I switch to a different application in DDE and then try and go back to a design element in the original one I start getting the error message again. I’ve ran compact/fixup on the app in question as well as deleted my cache.ndk but neither appear to have made a difference.

Subject: I can reproduce and explain why

I can reproduce that problem as well. The problem with my environment is that I have two domino servers with the same name, only different certifiers (domino/A and domino/B). Whenever I try to open a design element in a database on server domino/B the designer client connects to the wrong server domino/A and gives the file not found error. It seems that the Eclipse Designer does not honor the full servername.

Subject: Create two locations

We had the same error with the server names (domino/A and domino/B) and could resolve the problem by using two separate location documents (A and B). This allowed to disable domino/A for location B and vice versa.

Subject: it’s the nsf filename

Although this is an old topic, I thought I’d share my experience with it.The problem happened with me, but changing locations didn’t work (the db was local anyway), and at the end I found out that the problem was with the filename containing a plus (+) sign. hufff…

Subject: I get the same thing…

I have even reinstalled my Notes clients completely. Anyone got any ideas?

Subject: I think I figured out what it is

I think it’s related to a network connection somehow. If you get the message, switch to Island/Disconnected and then back to your Office/Connected location and it should work fine. Strange part is no one else is having network issues and I’m ONLY having the problem in DDE. Notes client apps never have the problem, Firefox/IE never have the issue and always seem fine.

Certainly annoying but at least it isn’t driving me insane knowing with 4 quick mouse clicks I can get it back and working.
