Fedora Core 6 and Notes 701

I don’t know if anyone has figured this out yet but I have gotten Notes 7.0.1 for Linux running on Fedora Core 6. Steps taken are listed below.=======================

  1. Disable SELINUX

    /etc/sysconfig/selinux

    SELINUX = disable

=======================

  1. Install lesstif

    yum install lesstif

    yum install lesstif-devel

    [/usr/lib]# ln -s libXm.so.2.0.1 libXm.so.3

=======================

  1. Find out which libraries Notes can not load and create a .conf file to direct to those locations

Use the ldd command to locate:

~/home/username/notes/ldd notes

~/home/username/notes/ldd lnotes

Create a .conf file in the /etc/ld.so.conf.d with the locations of the missing library files:

In my situation the file looked like this

/home/brandon/notes

/home/brandon/notes/_jvm/jre/bin/classic

=======================

  1. Run the ‘ldconfig’ to update libraries

[/sbin]# ./ldconfig

=======================

Thanks to JR for the road map in fedora 5 that led me to figure out fedora 6

Subject: Fedora Core 6 and Notes 701

I had Notes 7.01 running on Fedora 5 for a couple of months. The this week I upgraded to Fedora 6. I installed Notes and everything worked great. But after a day’s worth of work, Notes crashed and never came back up.

After trying to debug the issue, I reinstalled Fedora and got Notes up and running. Then it crashed again.

If I start Workplace Managed Client by it self, it does not crash. But as soon as I start Notes, I see the splash screen, and as Workplace Managed Client start, I get the NSD is running message.

So now I have to decide wether to go back to Fedora 5 or run Notes on top of Wine.

I get a log from NSD, but I don’t know where to send this log or if I can even send it anywhere.

Any comments / suggestions ?
