Falureto mail id file to backup

I am getting an error when the 8.5 client starts. A screenshot of the error in the log file is attached. The error is that a backup of the the user ID file is required but that there was a “Failure to mail backup recovery ID file for Backup of recent changes to ID file…”.

The error states that there are multiple notes names in the directory but an exhaustive search in ($Users) reveals no duplicates for either my name or the name of the recovery database.

Subject: Can you provide the exact error message? <>

Subject: The screenshot showed the exact error message from the log

Subject: Ah, I see now that there was no screenshot

Error message was:“Failure to mail backup recovery ID file for Backup of recent changes to ID file for Gareth Howell/Staff/LBAGlobal to Recovery: Multiple Notes name matches found in directory”

We have a number of directories, which are then aggregated into an Extended Directory Catalog and used on the servers. The EDC is then used to populate a condensed catalog which is replicated to laptop clients (of which I am one).

I searched all directories and catalogs and there is definitely only one instance of “Recovery”: the mail-in database used to capture IDs.

Subject: Try this

If you address a memo to Recovery, do you get an ambiguous name dialog? If so, then there’s probably a second Recovery entry that you may have overlooked.

Subject: Same issue

I’m having the same issue in my environment. This only happens while using the R8.5 client. No issue or error when using R8.02 client. My template is stil the 8.02 variety and the server is also running R8.02.

Subject: Failure to mail backup recovery ID

Found the answer. Check your recent contacts in your local personal address book. Found our recovery ID was in the recent contacts. I deleted it from the recent contants and tried to send a copy of the ID file to the recovery database. Didn’t have a problem.

Hope this helps
