Failure Notification Tool

Greetings and thank you in advance,We are a mid size Notes shop, with one mail/application server and one Blackberry server. Last week, due to a corrupted mail.box, some important emails did not go out (after hours) and replacing the mail.box resolved the issue. However, we did not find out about the problem until the next day. My question to my fellow administrators is this; is there something I can do to receive notification (email to a different account, a phone call or a text message), when a queue passes a preset threshold. Add-on tools are also an acceptable option. Lastly, would adding a second mail.box have prevented this problem?

thanks

You definitely should have more than one mail.box (have three). Could you have:

downed the router and/or server

renamed mail.box to mail.old

restarted the server

copied/cut everything from mail.old into the new mail.box/mail1.box

Then you would have had no lost messages. I’ve never seen a mail.box that you couldn’t actually open although you might not have been able to copy/cut one or more of the messages.

You can use events4.nsf to set up notifications and thresholds for various Domino events including the one you describe.

But, how would one get notified if there is a router problem. I also wanted the add on tool in case of a server failure.
