Failover / Clustering Question

One of my satellite offices just experienced an electrical problem and their mail server crashed hard. It may be some time before power is restored.

I had created replicas of the user’s mail files on another server and the servers were replicating every 30 minutes.

Is there an easy way to switch the users to the server that contains the mail file replicas? Both servers are in the same domain, use the same directory, etc. They have all of the prerequisites for being part of cluster, but they are not clustered.

Would making such a switch (or being in a clustered environment) allow the users to continue to receive email on their Blackberries?

Thanks!

Tim

Subject: Failover / Clustering Question

If you update the mail server of the affected users directly in the Domino Directory, the Blackberry server will pick up their new mail server as soon as the change replicates to the BES.Had you had a clustered environment already, then Blackberry mail would have failed over automatically to the other server.

Note that I would not normally recommend just changing the mail server, as it will have implications for end users, but the correct procedure for moving mail users to a new server uses adminp, and might not work as expected if their old mail server is not up.
