We are seeing a strange error message on most of our servers.
01/03/2007 08:30:31 a.m. >e 2·óĕ from host [xx.xx.xx.xx:xxxx] failed to authenticate: This server is not permitted to passthru to the specified server
The dates and times change, so does the random string in from of the From, in some cases this is blank, the IP address will change as will the port munber it is connecting from.
In the last thress days we have seen 2600+ of these error on 8 of our 18 servers.
We have scanned the ip addresses listed and they do not appear to have any malware or viruses. The clients are 6.5.x and the servers are 6.5.4 or 6.5.5
Has anyone else seen anything like this?
