@ExpandNameList problem

Hello,

I have a problem with the @ExpandNameList undocumented formula. It can work on computer and not on another one! I have the feeling that when Designer client or Administrator client are on the computer the formula is working. But for a simple user with a Notes client (V6) it doesn’t… Is there a special dll or exe to be installed or something special to do ?

for example :

temp:=@ExpandNameList(“MY_SERVER”:“names.nsf”;“MY_GROUP”);

@SetField(“subject”;temp)

This works on my computer, but doesn’t on a computer of a user B !

=> it is not due to a “special right” or something like that, because when I try with another ID (user B for example) on my computer, it works!

Thanks for your help!

Hi @all,

found this Post and have done some investigation!

  1. For constant / correct use you need a servername / mail-servername!

  2. If you use a servername as parameter it works fine and constant!!!

======= Code goes here ==========

REM;

REM { Group / List Members ermitteln};

REM { Author: Thomas Balatka};

REM { LastChange 02.11.2007};

REM;

REM { Requierd Parameters: CORRECT SERVER NAME NOT LOCAL (‘’‘’) !!!};

REM;

_server_db := @Subset(@DbName;1);

_server_mdb := @Subset(@MailDbName;1);

REM;

_server := @If( _server_db = “” & _server_mdb = “”;@Return(“”);

_server_db = “” & _server_mdb != “”; _server_mdb;

_server_db);

REM;

@ExpandNameList(_server:“names.nsf”;[SOURCEFIELDFORGROUPRESOLVE])

======= ENDE Code goes here ==========

If you need further Informations, Just e-mail me!

Subject: @ExpandNameList problem

I am facing the same problem with @ExpandNameList. The funny thing is it worked fine on my computer for 3 days and after that it stoped working. My computer has Designer and administrator client installed. So I don’t think working of this formula has anything to do with designed and administrator client installed.

I am desperately waiting for the solution to this problem

Subject: RE: @ExpandNameList problem

Yes, me too I have Designer/Administrator installed and it works! on all computers with Designer/Administrator installed it works (at my jobplace) but for the computer with only a standart Lotus Notes client it will work on a computer bt not on the other!! => have you try on another computer without Designer/Administrator installed ?

Subject: @ExpandNameList problem

have you tried another computer other than user B and yourself?

Subject: RE: @ExpandNameList problem

Yes, it works on 4 computers but not on other 2 computers! but I don’t know why… it is the same Lotus Notes versions 6.5.4

(=> It is not a access right problem)

Subject: RE: @ExpandNameList problem

just a thought but see if any of the groups the user is a member of appear in their personal address book on their PC. That would be the only reason I could think of why it would work using the same ID from one computer but not another. You said if you use the ID of 1 of the problem PC’s on your PC it works so this may explain why.

Subject: RE: @ExpandNameList problem

in personal address book there is no special group (only LocalDomain and OtherDomain that’s all). The difference is a computer with Domino Designer and/or Domino Admin client installed = it works at 100%. For those with only Lotus Notes client sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t… it’s so weird !!!
