Exchange 5.5 to Domino 6 Migration: inconsistent UI for LDAP (Exchange) search from within Domino is really annoying

Users are being migrated from Exchange 5.5 to D6, and they need to keep having their “drop-down” list for email addressing to work.

Apparently this is not possible via LDAP. What you can do is:

LDAP ACCOUNT (i.e. Bigfoot)- When I create an account, I see it as an option to search from my drop-down list of available directories.
DIRECTORY ASSISTANCE configured on Domino Server - LDAP-configured directories don’t show up as an available one from Drop-Down list of directories from NOTES clients. Only search thru F9. Is this correct? Because I can see it and search it from iNotes Web Access.

Also, the search results from the Notes client are unreadable, if I type “John” i get

Name: cn=JDoe/cn=Recipients/ou=US/o=IBM

on iNotes, I get:

Name: John Doe

Why the difference?
