Exchange 2003 Connector and Domino Versions

Hi There,I have a customer running a very old mixed messaging environment (Exchange 5.5 and Domino 5.0.8). They use the Microsoft Exchange Connector for Lotus Notes and the Calendar Connector. As I understand it the Exchange Connectors involve having a Notes client on the Exchange Server that handles the communication with a Domino server.

The Exchange environment is now being upgraded to Exchange 2003. The customer claims Microsoft have said they need to upgrade the entire Domino environment (15 servers) to 6.5 or better. I have also recommended an upgrade to 6.5 as 5 is no longer supported. However, the customer does not want to be pressured into a rushed-upgrade by spurious requirements from Microsoft.

From my reading of Microsoft documentation I can only see that the Notes Client on the Exchange Server needs to be at 6.5. As far as I can see the rest of the environment can remain at 5.0.

Does anyone have practical experience of this configuration (Exchange 2003 with Domino 5.0 via the connector and a 6.5 client)? If so, does it work and are there any gotchas (e.g. with calendar interoperability)?

Thanks in advance,

Gordon
