We are going to migrate from Exchange 2000 to Domino 6.5. We are planning and have already tested the migration with the Domino migration tools. The next step is the real migration of 1200 Users.
The general process is clear, but do you might have any hints or warnings of does and dont’s ?? Anything where we can run into problems?

Hi Mike,we’ve got here a mixed environment:
Domino on the servers and about 80 stiff-necked MS outlook users accessing Notes via POP3 but most users work with Notes clients.
What I found is: The more your users know about Notes the more are they are satisfied. This means you have to provide enough training for your users; e.g. two full days at the very beginning then about a month later another day.
Voluntary workshops (e.g. offline and mobile Notes access for laptop users) would be a good addition to a user training.
For deployment of the Notes client you should use Installshield for Lotus Notes. If it works you can create great install packages, unfortunately the documentation I found is poor.
A third fact is: People like to play. Instant messaging could motivate people to use Notes 6.5.
If you’ve got already UNIX know how you should consider making the (ex!)change complete regarding your OS: Try Linux oder e.g. Sun Solaris. Installation and configuration is ambitious but if Domino runs, it runs very well. And installing a Domino cluster will boost also your system uptime.
Last but not least: Plan your server space generously because if your users did work for a long time with outlook they might have huge mailboxes…
