Error when moving Domino users between 2 servers

Hi all,

I have a problem moving Domino users between 2 servers from 2 different Domino domain and hope someone could point me to the correct direction.

(1) Source: ServerA/ORG1

(2) Destination: ServerB/ORG2

(3) Cross certified the O and both administrators can open and access both servers fine.

(4) ACL added for both administrators and servers for NAME.NSF and ADMIN4.NSF on both servers.

When I used the “Move to Another Server” function in the Domino Admin Client, it keeps errors out.

From the local LOG.NSF, this is the error logged:-

{

12/09/2010 05:23:33 PM Creating the Administration Process request for Migration TestUser/IT/ORG1 failed because of the error: Both the old and the new mail/roaming servers must be in the same domain (as specified in the Domain name field of their server documents)

}

Having granted full access to try to resolve the issue, I have exhausted all I could have known. Have searched the error on the Internet, however cannot locate any previous experience.

Or is it I can only move user within the local Domino domain?

Hope to gather some input in this forum. Thanks in advance!

Subject: Moving users

Hello,

Unfortunately, you can only move users between servers within the same domain. The best and only method to accomplish this task is for you to register new users in the respective new domain, then manually move the mail files over and allow the new Person documents to access this mail file(s). Unfortunately, there is no automated method of what you are trying to accomplish.

… I have guess so when I imagine that it may be similar to the BlackBerry Enteprise Server, which only allows the use of “Move Users” function within the same BlackBerry Domain.

BTW, is there any technical reference that indicate that moving of users is restricted within the same Domino domain? I couldn’t locate any in the Admin Guide NSF DB…
