Error Updating Certifier ID

I recently upgraded Domino from 6.5 to 6.5.1. This morning one of my users sent me his ID for recertification. When I went through the process and the following message appeared: Error updating certifier id

The following error occured while trying to update the cerificates stored in the Certifier ID with those from the directory on the server you selected.

Entry not found

Do you wish to continue without updating the Certifier ID?

There is an entry in the Domino Administator’s Peoples and Groups\Certificates\Notes Certifiers for the certifier. There’s no entry in the server’s names.nsf for the cerifier - should there be one? The stange thing is it’s password has reverted back to one I used about 3 years ago. I managed to change it back to the current password. I also ran updall on the $Certifiers view.

Has anyone seen this before and know how to fix it?

Subject: Fixed but be careful when doing an upgrade…

I looked in Administration Preferences and noted that the path to the Certifier ID was pointing to a different folder (\data\ids)instead of the original folder, I changed it back to the original.

I know what happened when I upgraded, I used the full install instead of the incremental update. While the full install recognises the existing installation it “updates” paths to the default. My server could find the certifier document but couldn’t find the certifier id even though I had pointed the process at the file. At least I think that’s what happened.

I am having exactly the same problem. The path you mentioned was wrong, as well. However correcting the path did not fix the problem, in our case! In addition, we are regularly getting messages on the server console “Error locating a Domino Directory entry for certifier…”

All help will be appreciated.

That was the path that the upgrade changed to but the actual path is not important. What is important is that the full install overwrote some of my settings.
