I’m having a frustrating issue with Notes that our admin hasn’t seen before and isn’t sure how to fix without blowing away my mail file and rebuilding it.
First, we’re a mixed-version enterprise, with a relative few running v8.x clients but most running v7.x. I’ve been running v8 for a year or so now, and am currently at 8.0.2. Thus far I’ve never had or seen any issues with mail and calendar invites crossing all version boundaries – they’ve all been inter-operating just fine.
Yesterday someone sent me a couple of invitations for repeating meetings (one weekly, one monthly), and when I attempted to open them I got a popup error dialog saying “Field: ‘tmpInviteeStatus_1’: Array index out of bounds.” I cannot open the invitations to accept them. These are important meetings that I must have on my calendar. I’ve spoken with the person who sent them, and she attempted twice. As I understood her, the first time was from her boss’s delegated calender using her older v7 client, and the next attempt from his v8.0.1 client. Both had the same problem. Funny thing is that for the first attempt, when she added me to the already-established meetings, she understandably invited me to future occurrences only. The second time, she removed me from those invites (and I received the removal updates which I could open), then she again invited me – this time to all occurrences, past & present. They came through as a bunch of separate invitations (for past & present, weekly and monthly), and I was able to successfully open and accept the PAST occurrences, but all of the FUTURE ones resulted in the same error. So the (useless) past occurrences worked, but the ones I actually need for the future did not. Figures…
I’ve since had invitations from others that worked, so I don’t think my client or mail file is broken. OTOH the sender hasn’t had reports of problems from anyone else. She’s an administrative assistant who lives in Notes all day, so if this was an ongoing problem with others I’m sure she’d be aware of it by now.
Our Notes admin gave me some suggestions for killing my search index and rebuilding my client views, which didn’t help. Short of blowing away and rebuilding my mail file from scratch, is there anything else I or my admin can try?
This is only the latest of many Notes Calendar frustrations I’ve encountered. I’ve had no end of problems with trying to sync my Notes Calendar to both Windows Mobile and Google via several means, including DAMO/Outlook, EasySync, and CompanionLink. Some close colleagues who’ve also attempted to sync have had the exact same problems, so it’s not just me. Our admin told me that synching with Notes is a nightmare and can result in mail file corruption, which if true is just ridiculous, but perhaps explains these issues I’m seeing now.
