Error encountered fetching data

Hi,

We have inotes running properly before. But now some users encounter the error message “Error encountered fetching data. Click the browser’s Refresh button to reload the page.”

After further testing, we found that the problem occurs when:

  • The view contains Chinese characters in the subject.

  • Users are using Win 2003 or Win XP SP2.

This problem seems only occurs in new version of Windows (should be Internet Explorer).

Any solution to this?

Thanks & Regards,

Eric

I’ve found a solution which works for me:Disable “Character set in header” on server document within the “Domino web engine” tab within the “character set” section.

Great, thanks - worked for me too!On windows server 2003 that is…

Anyone know what exactly that setting does?

After changing it I can se my login page is missing some danish characters, but that is surely a minor problem!

Hi, I have the excact same problem on 2 citrix servers basen on server 2003. 3 other boxes basen on win 2000 runs fine. I have not yet been able to crack this one, so i’m all ears if someone could give us a clue. I’m beginning to think of a bug in IE in server 2003…

Subject: RE: Error encountered fetching data

I have opened a support case with IBM on this.I will write here what the outcome of this is!

I’m still convinced it has something to do with the version of IE on windows server 2003…

anyone else has a clue?

Hi,

Any reply from IBM?

Do they pass the responsibilities to Microsoft, or they are investigating on it.

Thanks!

Subject: RE: Error encountered fetching data

Here is a fix.

iNotes_WA_GZIP_Disable=1

Add this to the server’s NOTES.INI and restart the server.

This will turn off the new “GZIP” compression that iNotes 6.5.x uses.

This problem is caused by a particular patch of IE. It seems those browsers with Q828750 don’t work.

Supposedly the CSP for IE6 fixes the problem but we had mixed results.

Hi there

No luck with “iNotes_WA_GZIP_Disable=1” here…

As I stated earlier in this thread I have the problem only on Windows server 2003/Metaframe XP FR3. The version of IE6 is another version here 6.0.3790.0, but apparently without Q828750 hotfix. Excuse me for askin dumb questions, but what is CSP for IE6?

IBM has closed the case for now stating that they don’t officially support Web Access on Citrix Metaframe…not very usefull.

Hi there,we also have this problem ‘Error encounter …’ reading emails with IE6 on all XP workstations since we installed SP2. Everything was OK before. After deinstalling SP2 it works again. We’ve tried all your hints … :frowning:

I would be very pleased at a solution.

Hi, My clients are running on terminal server on NT4 SP6, and they check your mail by Internet explorer, each user logon with your own account, the problem is, some users, cant open the mail because when click on Inbox appear this message “Error encountered fetching data”. I erase the temporary files and cookies, and update de inotes.class. But if an another user is logon on the server, its all ok, no have problem to access the inbox…

Some one can tell me what do i to do???

Maybe a little late…

we had the same problem

1: we sorted out the inbox from to many mails making the inbox worked. We sorted all the mails into folders.

2: found one mail with danish letter “æ” in the subject line. Removing this letter och the mail maked even that folder to work.

So as someone here mention “Chines letters” was not that wrong. Looks like it has something to do with language suport.

Look into it!
