With the 6.0 Mail template, there’s a “Tools” section on the left pane that expands with archive, rules, and stationery. Then there’s another “Tools” section available as a drop down menu when in the Inbox view that has menu options such as Preferences and out of office. Are there any plans to rename one of them? It’s a bit confusing trying to distinguish which menu a user is talking about if they just say “Under Tools”. I suggest either one of them gets changed. In my opinion I think the Tools section on the left hand pane should be renamed to something like “My Tools”. The other Tools menu from the Inbox should stay the same because the users are already familiar with it.
Subject: Another idea to improve consistency.
The “global” tools (out of office, preferences, …) should be moved into the outline together with the other tools (like archiving and rules).
The “My Tools” idea is good.
The “current document related” tools (add sender to address books, delivery information, …) can stay where they are.
That way, all action buttons (reply, delete, folder, …) work on the current/selected document(s).
