We are wanting to beautify, make a little flashy…etc to our website. I’m just gathering info on what besides flash works well with notes to get a little more professional look and feel. I like flash, but is there other tools just as good/better/worse…etc.
It depends what you want to accomplish. Flash is good for what it does, but if it isn’t being used to add anything to the page/site, it’s not going to add much but additional load time. Domino-based sites are no different from other sites, really – professional design input (rather than a developer’s best guess) works wonders. You will probably find that you don’t need more technology, just professional layout, graphics and CSS.
Subject: RE: Enhance your website look…what to use?
I’ve seen it, and it does what it says on the box – but, again, it’s not a cure-all. Is Flash really going to enhance your site, or is it technology for its own sake?
What is the nature of your site? Your product/service? Who is your target audience? Is multimedia going to help sell whatever it is you’re selling? Your web site is basically a show-and-tell. Do you have more to show or to tell? If the words are important, then going through Flash is an unnecessary complication – most of what you can do in Flash can also be done with good ol’ HTML. Where Flash shines is when you have meaningful animations or sound that can convey information that’s difficult to get across with words and a handful of static pictures.
