one of our user received an encrypted email. When she open it, she is prompted “You cannot access portions of this document because it is encrypted and was not intended for you”. She is on the cc list of receipient. When she click after prompt, the body of the msg is blank. A document link can be found next to the subject field which redirects her to the msg seems to be the msg expected.
How do I troubleshoot this case? Is there any domino document/technotes on the web which explain about encrypted notes mail?
There could be an issue with the public key of the recipient that is stored in the public address book. Compare the public key in the recipient’s Notes ID to the one stored in thier person doc in the Domino directory. They should be the same.
You can also test this by sending the recipient an encrypted message yourself and see if they can read it. Assuming you don’t have the recipeint in your personal address book, this will use the public key in the Domino directory. If this works, then it could be the sender has an old copy of the recipeint’s key in the thier personal address book.
IF the public key is wrong in the Domino Directory, you could make them the same by copying from the recipients Notes ID and pasting it into their person doc or you could recertify the recipient’s Notes ID (with the same cert ID as it is now) and this would ensure the ID and Domino directroy are again in sync.
This issue could also be the recipient is using an old copy of thier Notes ID so if you keep a respository of users’ Notes IDs, check that ID too.
