Embedded View

Is it possible to only select certain columns from a view that is being displayed in an embedded view. ?

More information will be required to help you with this problem. We need to know what you’re doing, what your goal is, that sort of thing. Just from what is provided, all that can really be said is “why?” Is this for Notes or Web? Are you attempting to do an inViewEdit of a document? What is the purpose of what you wish to do?

What do you mean by “select”? Do you want to click these columns and interact with them? Do you want only those columns to show up in the embedded view? … and so on.

Joel,

Sorry. I have an embedded view showing a single category. The view that embedded is view is based upon has a columns that relate to a business unit and product line of the company. The single category selection of the embedded view gives that information by default. By including the business and product line, it’s being redundant. I’m fairly new to Notes. I’m not doing an InViewEdit because all I want to do is not have the two columns show in the embedded view. This view is for Notes only. I hope that’s better.

The typical way here would be to create 2 views. Each view shows what you need it to. In designing any view, check the index update frequency in the view properties that best fits your needs. If you have a view that has a lot of data that doesn’t change much, there’s no point in updating its view index every half hour. There isn’t a lot of overhead to having separate views here, so it’s probably the best way to go.

Joel,

Good advise. I’ll give it a try.
